NUI GALWAY FESTIVE FAMILY GATHERING*

The festive party for University staff, students and their families* is back this year! This fun on-campus event is strictly ticketed only. Look out for an email from the Office of the Vice-President for Equality and Diversity at 12pm on Thursday 6 December with a link to book your free ticket. Don’t miss it!

CHRISTMAS GIFT COLLECTION FOR DIRECT PROVISION IN GALWAY

  • Drop-off deadline: Friday, 21 December at 1pm
  • Drop-off point: Parking and Travel Office, Room 103a, Arts Millennium Building

Please help make the season special for children and adults in Direct Provision in Galway. Gifts can be dropped off to the Parking and Travel Office on or before Friday 21 December 1pm. Email: joan.lally@nuigalway.ie for more information. 

Suggested gifts:

Kids: soft toys, clothes, books, puzzles, arts/craft supplies, sports equipment, musical instruments, blocks/lego, etc.
Adults: outerwear (hats, gloves, scarves), sports equipment, books, cosmetics/toiletries, chocolates/sweets, small electronic devices, art/craft supplies, gift vouchers, etc.

CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY

Join students, staff, retired staff and friends from the community outside the O'Donoghue Centre in the South Campus as we switch on the festive lights. Free food and festive fruit punch from our campus caterers, with entertainment from our choir and student societies. Wear your Christmas jumper! SU BIG FAT CHARITY CAKE SALE & PET FARM

  • Wednesday, 5 December, 11am-3pm

Running in Áras na Mac Léinn. Chill out with some furry friends and buy our students’ cakes with proceeds going to COPE Galway and the Galway Rape Crisis Centre. There will be sheep, lambs, goats, cats, rabbits, ducks, hens, roosters, chicks, ducklings, geese, cake, tea, a raffle and tunes from Flirt FM. More info

ORCHESTRA SOCIETY WINTER CONCERT

  • Saturday, 1 December, 7-9pm

A magical evening in St Nicholas' Collegiate Church in aid of Draíocht Society, NUI Galway. The orchestra will be joined by the student male-voice choir the ‘Testostertones’. Tickets €8/€5 from the SocsBox or on the door.

CRAFT FAIR AND COFFEE MORNING IN AID OF GALWAY’S ANIMAL CHARITIES

  • Tuesday, 4 December, 10am-2pm

The Craft Fair & Coffee Morning is back and has moved to an even bigger venue – The Bailey Allen Hall! With more local artisan crafts and goodon offer than ever before it is the perfect opportunity to pick up unique presents for friends and family while supporting local artists and craftspeople. Browse the thirty or so stalls while sipping a cuppa and munching on delicious delicacies, all very kindly donated by staff and volunteers, and buy tickets for our monster raffle.

Proceeds go to four very worthy charities who work tirelessly for all the neglected, abandoned and abused animals in the Galway region and surrounds (MADRA, Galway Cat Rescue, Renvyle Cat & Dog Rescue and An Cat Dubh).

‘SNOWFLAKES AND ANGELS’ CHARITY CROCHET

  • Wednesday, 5 December, 12pm-2pm

All crafters come and join us in the NUI Galway Knit & Crochet group to make snowflakes and angels! For the office, for the tree,
to insert into a craft card to send to a special friend. Bring your own yarn, hooks and needles (if you have them). Hooks and yarns will also be available.
Donations €5 or more. All proceeds to COPE Galway. Complimentary tea/coffee by Masterchefs Galway
