Aodh is originally from Dingle, Co. Kerry. He graduated from NUIG in 1996 with a BA in Law and Politics and again in 2000 with an LL.B. In 2003/04 he took the solicitors’ entrance exams for Blackhall Place.
Aodh teaches Media Law, Journalism and Creative Writing.

He worked as Journalist, Presenter, Producer with Radio Kerry 1990/91. He has spent periods working with RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta as a journalist and presenter. He chaired Seó Beo an tSathairn from Casla in 1992/93. He worked on local news and as presenter of An Saol Ó Dheas from Baile na nGall, Co. Kerry in 1994/95. |

Aodh was a founding member of theatre company Na Fánaithe a troupe that sprang from NUIG in 1987. He performed in Misiún ar Muir, a show that represented Ireland at Expo ’92 in the Andalucian city of Seville. Aodh joined Aisteoirí Bhréanainn in the West Kerry Gaeltacht in 1980. The short plays of Samuel Beckett were a speciality (with Sam’s blessings from the Boulevard St Jacques). He has been involved with Siamsa Tíre since 1976. He performed with them as a child and as an adult. He also worked as a stage lighting technician. He acted in the show, Ding Dong Dederó: Forging the Dance, which opened the new theatre and arts centre in Tralee in April 1991. An Tincéara Buí, in 2007 he produced a short play by Conamara playwright, Johnny Chóil Mhaidhc starring Aisteoirí an Spidéil. This was in tribute to the author who died the previous year. |

He has a special interest in sean-nós singing. In 1984/85 he completed a study of the songs and singing of Seán de hÓra, Cloichear, Baile an Fhirtéaraigh, Co. Kerry. He has competed in the Oireachtas na Gaeilge sean-nós competitions from time to time. He plays music. In 1988 Aodh made a recording with Micho Russell in Galway. |
