Biography

Martin Hughes has been a lecturer in Information Systems at NUI, Galway since September 2000. He is currently an IRCHSS Government of Ireland Senior Scholar. At present he is in the process of completing a Ph. D on E-Business and Risk at the University of Bath, England. Funding for the completion of this work has been received in the form of a scholarship from the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS) and as such Martin is on study leave for the 2004-2005 academic year. Martin is a member of the Association for Information Systems, and his research interests include e-commerce and the small firm, inter-organisational systems and risk, e-government and knowledge management. His research has been published in book chapters, leading international IS conferences including the European Conference on Information Systems and the Americas Conference on Information Systems and in the Journal of End User Computing, The Journal of Electronic Commerce in Organisations, The Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, The Business Process Management Journal, The International Journal of Electronic Government and the Irish Marketing Review. Martin currently serves as the programme director of the Master of Business Studies in Electronic Commerce and as an external examiner to the School of Business & Humanities in Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design & Technology.
