The Breaking the SEAL Programme is an NUI Galway initiative led by Dr. Paul Flynn & Dr. Barry Houlihan.
The aim of the programme is to support senior cycle history students as the complete their mandatory Research Study Report (RSR) by connecting them with the important archives held at the James Hardiman Library at NUI Galway.During a campus visit, students take a tour of the archives held at the James Hardiman Library at NUI Galway and get to engage with the documents held there as researchers.

Partiapting students also engage in a series of workshops targeted at developing the following critical 21st Century Skills:

  • Collaboration
  • Critical analysis skills
  • Narrative expression
  • Technological proficiency
  • Independent thinking
  • Academic writing
