Access/Foundation Tutor(s)
Application date is now closed for Semester 1
The Access Office is seeking to recruit a tutor or tutors to deliver various academic modules on Foundation Programmes in Galway and Ballinasloe, during the academic year 2016/2017. We would like to recruit currently registered PhD students who are available to work for a few hours per week as described below.
Our Foundation programmes are designed to equip non-traditional students with key knowledge and skills that will enable them to access and succeed in higher education. We offer streams in Humanities, Business, and Science & Engineering (including Health Sciences).
Person Specification
The characteristics and experience we are looking for in the tutor(s) include:
Essential:
- Currently registered PhD student
- Proven ability in subject area
- Excellent communication skills
- Highly organised and reliable
- Respect for privacy and ability to manage confidential information
Desirable:
- Prior experience of teaching or tutoring
- Prior experience of working with non-traditional students, including mature students, students with disabilities, and students from socio-economic groups underrepresented in higher education
- Prior training on dealing with students in distress
