Student Transition Officer
Are you struggling with University life, either academically, socially or financially?
Student Transition Officer
If you are, Gráinne Morahan as Student Transition Officer is available to students who come in via alternative routes such as:
- First year and continuing HEAR students
- Post Access - School Leavers s - undergraduates
- Students who have entered directly with a QQI or FET qualification
Gráinne can help you liaise with relevant University services to support your transition from second level to third level education, ensuring you have the best student experience. She can meet with you to discuss any issues in confidence at any stage during your time at University.
For issues such as:
- social
- personal
- financial
- academic experiences
If you need information, advice and support on a range of issues, from simple requests for information to supporting your journey throughout your degree, talk to Gráinne.
Also there will be a range of activities held through the first five week for you to come along to and meet with Grainne and other 1st year students see http://bit.ly/student_supports

Semester 1 Events
These events are for you all to come meet with the Student Transition Officer (Grainne Morahan) and support each other. One to one appointments with the Officer will be arranged for you and you will be invited to meet once per semester. By appointment other times can be arranged. Drop in's are welcome Wednesdays between 10 and 1. Ground Floor, Block E, Room G011
Tuesday September 10th - Coffee Morning, An Bialann 8.30am to 10.30am
Drop by for Coffee and chat.
Tuesday September 17th - Information stand, Smokies Café 10am to 12pm.
If you have questions or concerns just drop by and chat.
Tuesday September 24th - Get Moving Week. Walk from Kingfisher to Dangan and back. Leaving Kingfisher at 1.10.
Tuesday October 1st - IT Skills drop in day.
Drop by with any academic IT queries you have.
Tuesday October 8th - As part of Well-Being Week, a talk on how to manage your budget and avoid stress.

The Academic Writing Centr
The Academic Writing Centre based in the James Hardiman Library will provide two special workshops on essay writing.
Places are strictly limited, and early booking is strongly encouraged.
