HR/Payroll (CORE) and Employee Self-Service applications are the University’s IT solution for its human resource requirements, payroll, business intelligence and time & attendance management.
The service is made up of eight service elements:
Payroll (CorePay) – A Payroll solution that is effective and accurate by providing a multitude of features to help streamline and optimise the entire payroll process.
Post and HR Management (CorePersonnel) – Caters for the employees through their life cycle at the University, from recruitment through to retirement. It provides us with tools to streamline and improve employee management. CoreTime Supervisory Reporting is also encapsulated here.
Employee Self Service (CorePortal) – Allows employees to perform traditional HR tasks from the Web. Core Employee Self-Serivce (ESS) is deployed through CorePortal. Employee Self-Service allows the employees to manage their personnel details on-line e.g. home address. At NUI Galway, we also have Payroll Self-Service available to employees which is a web tool to allow self administration of Payroll details. CoreTime – Is an intuitive, web-enabled (Time & Attendance) solution designed to streamline time and attendance management and increase the University’s efficiency.
Reporting (Core BI) – Core Business Intelligence analyses the underlying data in the CoreHR suite of applications giving instant access to critical data. Employees can create reports and complete analysis of this data. The front end tool to access this data is Oracle Discoverer.
Data Integration – Interfacing of data in and out of Core with other internal applications e.g. Agresso
User/Rights Management – Access to all Core applications/modules is administered (upon approval by email/service desk ticket) by the service desk level 2/level3
Payments inc EFTs – The staff payment files that are generated by the payroll department and are then transferred to the bank by ISS under instruction of a service desk ticket.
HR Document Repository (ADOS) - The Canon ADOS document management software is a secure and efficient OCR(Optical character recognition) based software which scans, stores and files your documents.
Staff, and E (External) account holders can use the service based on Core account access, menu roles and permissions.
This service is not available to Students and T accounts.
The University’s HR/Payroll and Employee Self-Service applications are Core version 15.3.2 & Core Portal version 2.0. The software is provided and maintained by
Core International, based in Kilkenny and Cork.
The Core applications/modules run on Windows servers and uses an Oracle database which runs on a Linux server cluster. Data is stored on an IBM Storage Area Network (SAN).
