January 2016 Update:
Smoke Free Zones (use link for more details).
Development of two smoke-free zones, centred around two designated smoking shelters in the north and south campus. This was further to a NUI Galway survey in 2013 in which the majority of staff and students expressed their preference for making the University a partially smoke-free campus.
November 2013 Update:
The UMT has discussed and accepted the view that, unless and until the Smoke Free Campus Group recommends differently, nicotine vaporisers should be subject to the same regulation within NUI Galway as cigarettes i.e. that the use of these devices within NUI Galway buildings is not acceptable.
