HEAR
|
Higher Education Access Route - a college and university admissions scheme which offers places on
reduced points and extra college support to school leavers from
socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds |
HPAT
|
Health Professional Admissions Test - the admissions test provided by the Irish Medical Schools. The test measures a candidate’s logical reasoning and problem solving skills
as well as non-verbal reasoning and the ability to understand the
thoughts, behaviour and/or intentions of people |

Further Education and Training Awards Council. The statutory awarding body for further education and training in Ireland |
| Garda Vetting |
Background checks in respect of an individual conducted by An Garda Síochána on request of any authorised organisation. In the case of the Undergraduate Admissions Office the authorised organisation is NUI Galway |

Group teaching, a big class

| Masters |
Postgraduate degree, the next level of study. Usually either M.A. (Master of Arts), M.Litt. (Masters of Literature) or M.Sc. (Master of Science)

Matriculation

Refers to the minimum requirements for entry to the University. Before
you can be considered for admission you must meet these minimum
standards. Matriculation has nothing to do with points |
