Transferring to 2^nd or 3^rd Year of Courses for Irish & EU Applicants
Applications for transfers are considered for admission into the 2^nd or 3^rd year of the courses listed below. For more information please view the regulations governing the relevant course area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I transfer from a first year course to another first year course if I don't like the course I am on after first year? (e.g. Arts to Commerce or Science to Medicine)

A. It is not possible to transfer from one first year course to another first year course. Entry to first year of undergraduate degree courses must be gained on school leaving results (i.e. points). Application is made via the CAO.

Q. Is it possible to transfer at all to Courses at NUI Galway?

A. Transfer applications are normally considered from students who have completed a course at level 6 or level 7 in an Institute of Technology or completed year one of a degree in another university and wish to transfer to year 2 or 3 of a similar course at NUI Galway.
