Welcome to NUI Galway! Before you begin your academic year, you will need to be fully registered with the University, please watch this short video on how to register. Online Registration opens in late August/early September via: www.nuigalway.ie/registration.
Upload a Photo for your Student Identity Card
Online Registration is where you will be able to register for your course online. In advance of this, please login to our Student Portal and upload a photo which will be used for your Student ID card. Before you upload a photo, please check the guidelines for photo size etc. Student ID cards cannot be issued unless photos uploaded strictly adhere to these guidelines. All photos must be uploaded before 25th September 2020.

How to Login to the Student Portal.
- Your Username (Student ID number) is your 8 digit CRM or OAS application number
- Your temporary password is galwayddmm*
*Your temporary Activation Password galwayDDMM (the word galway followed by the date and month from your Date of Birth e.g. If your date of birth is the 9th of November your temporary activation password is galway0911).
You will see 3 tabs at the top.
- Select the "Profile" tab
- Select the "Upload Photo" button.
If you cannot upload a photo or you have uploaded it incorrectly, please email your photo as an attachment to email@example.com. Include your student ID number in the email or your photo cannot be applied to the system.

Register online and select modules where appropriate before the 25th September 2020. Registration dates will be provided to you by your course administrator and you will find start dates and contact information at the end of this page.
Student ID Cards previously issued to current students will remain your ID card for the duration of your course at NUI Galway. Contact the Student Registry Helpdesk regarding replacement ID cards and contact your course administrator if you have any further queries.
Past Students of NUI Galway
If you are a past student of this University, please note that it is NUI Galway policy to retain your full student history under your first (or old) NUI Galway ID number. You will therefore be required to register using your existing NUI Galway student number (please do not register using your OAS/CRM application number). There are, unfortunately, implications for your student account if you register under the wrong number.
Welcome back to your course! Registration will open for students who completed repeat exams on the 17th September 2020. Register online and select modules where appropriate.
