Welcome to NUI Galway! Registration will open for 1st Year Undergrad students on August 21st, 2019 and for 1st Year Postgrad students on August 16th, 2019. Before you begin your academic year, you will need to be fully registered with the University, please watch this short video on how to register. The registration page can be found at: www.nuigalway.ie/registration. See below for course specific information and how to upload your photo for your Student Identity Card.
Upload a Photo for your Student Identity Card
Online Registration will open as per the dates indicated above and is where you will be able to register for your course online. In advance of this, please login to our Student Portal and upload a photo which will be used for your Student ID card. Before you upload a photo, please check the guidelines for photo size etc. All photos must be uploaded before 29th August, 2019.
How to Login to the Student Portal
- Your Username (Student ID number) is your 8 digit CRM or OAS application number
- Your temporary password is galwayddmm*
*Your temporary Activation Password galwayDDMM (the word galway followed by the date and month from your Date of Birth e.g. If your date of birth is the 9th of November your temporary activation password is galway0911).
You will see 3 tabs at the top.
- Select the "Profile" tab
- Select the "Upload Photo" button.
If you cannot upload a photo or you have uploaded it incorrectly, please email your photo as an attachment to email@example.com. Include your student ID number in the email or your photo cannot be applied to the system.

Contact the Student Information Desk regarding replacement ID cards and contact your course administrator if you have any further queries.
Past Students of NUI Galway
If you are a past student of this University, please note that it is NUI Galway policy to retain your full student history under your first (or old) NUI Galway ID number. You will therefore be required to register using your existing NUI Galway student number (please do not register using your OAS/CRM application number). There are, unfortunately, implications for your student account if you register under the wrong number.
