Programmes: Classroom Based: Diploma in Italian 2010/11
The Diploma in Italian introduces students to the basic elements of the Italian language. The programme aims to develop the language skills of the participants so that participants will be able to converse about and to comprehend a variety of topics and situations, which are normally encountered in everyday life in a contemporary environment. The Diploma in Italian also introduces students to aspects of contemporary Italian culture.
This programme is designed for those who have no previous knowledge of the language and aims to equip students with appropriate written and oral skills in Italian.

Assessment
All modules in the diploma programme are individually assessed. The assessment for each module takes the form of essays, written assignments or oral examinations during the semester and a written examination at the end of the semester.
Duration/attendance requirements
The programme is a 2-year, part-time programme. Classes are held one evening per week on Mondays in Galway.

NUI Diploma in Arts (Italian)
Annual fee
The EU fee is € 970 per annum
The non-EU fee is €1,470.
These fees are subject to a yearly review.
A number of scholarships will be available for applicants who have recently become unemployed (since January 2008), and wish to update their skills and knowledge by participating in one of the listed programmes.
