Programmes: Classroom Based: Diploma in Spanish 2010/11
The Diploma in Spanish introduces students to the basic elements of the Spanish language, providing an introduction to the basics of the language and considers the history, culture and contemporary society not only of Spain, but also of countries in South America, for example, Argentina, Chile, Cuba and Mexico.
Intended For:
The Diploma in Spanish is designed for those who have little or no previous knowledge of the language and aims to equip students with written, oral and comprehension skills in Spanish.

- Introduction to Beginners’ Spanish – written and spoken
- Beginners’ Spanish – written, spoken and comprehension
- Introduction to Spain and Oral Spanish
Programme content Year 2
- Improvers’ Spanish 1 – written, spoken and oral comprehension.
- Improvers’ Spanish 2 – written, spoken and oral comprehension.
- Introduction to Latin America and Oral Spanish

Assessment
All modules in both diploma programmes are individually assessed. The assessment for each module takes the form of essays, written assignments or oral examinations during the semester and a written examination at the end of the semester.
Duration/attendance requirements
Both programmes are two year, part-time programmes. Classes are held one evening per week. Please note that these programmes are offered on a cyclical basis and do not have an annual intake. You are advised to contact the course coordinator for information on commencement dates.

NUI Diploma in Spanish.
Annual fee
Fees are €970 per year
The non EU fee is €1,470
These fees are subject to a yearly review.
A number of scholarships will be available for applicants who have recently become unemployed (since January 2008), and wish to update their skills and knowledge by participating in one of the listed programmes. Scholarships will constitute a 50% contribution to programme fees. A separate application process will be required. Click
