Alumni Awards & Gala Banquet 2011

The 2011 Alumni Awards and Gala Banquet, which recognizes individual excellence and achievements among the University's more than 80,000 graduates worldwide, will take place on March 5th in the Bailey Allen Hall in NUI Galway.

Cumann Caoga Bliain - 50th Anniversary Reunion: Friday 15th April 

The Cumann Caoga Bliain 2011 reunion will take place on Friday, 15th of April in NUI Galway and the Meyrick (Great Southern) Hotel to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the graduating class of 1961. Graduates from previous years are also invited to attend as is the tradition.

Boston Club Presents... An Evening at the Theater: Saturday 5th February

The Druid Theatre Company is coming to Boston’s Paramount Center at Emerson College to perform The Cripple of Inishmaan, the critically acclaimed play written by Martin McDonagh and directed by NUI Galway alumna and Tony Award winner, Garry Hynes.

Galway Club Presents...TG4 - Behind the Scenes at Ros na Rún: Thursday 10th February

The Galway Club has organised a behind the scenes tour of TG4's Ros na Rún set in An Spidéal for the evening of Thursday 10th February. Join fellow alumni for the chance to see the places where Tadhg Ó Díreáin, Seamus Ó Catháin, Máire Uí Conghaile and other Ros na Rún characters live. A bus will transport alumni from the Quadrangle, NUI Galway to the set and will return them after the tour. Further details to follow.

McKee Barracks Dinner: Thursday 24th February

A dinner celebrating the appointment of the first NUI Galway graduate, Lieutenant General Sean McCann, to the position of Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces will be held on Thursday, 24th February in McKee Barracks, Dublin 7 from 7.30pm. Further details to follow.

NUI Galway Energy Night: Wednesday 26th January

An Cumann Ceimice, Energy Society & Physics Society present the NUI Galway Energy Night on Wednesday 26th January. The evening begins with a reception and energy research poster session in the Orbsen Building Foyer at 5.30pm followed by 'Averting a Future Energy Crisis' a panel based discussion in the O'Flaherty Lecture Theatre at 7:00pm. The panel will consist of SEAI CEO, Prof J. Owen Lewis, Siemens Ireland CEO, Paul Lynam, Combustion Chemistry Centre Founder, Prof John Simmie, Head of Energy & Environment IBEC, Neil Walker and Nuclear Energy Expert, Prof Philip Walton. The discussion will be moderated by RTÉ Environmental Editor, Paul Cunningham.

Dublin Club Presents...David O'Leary

Over 100 alumni and friends of NUI Galway battled through the severe weather conditions to attend a performance of carols and festive favourites by David O'Leary in the magnificent setting of St. Ann's Church, Dawson Street.

With arrangements by Cohen, Rosenhaus and Ryden, O'Leary was joined by friends from the NUI Galway Chamber Orchestra and a guest performance by rising star and uileann piper Mark Redmond.

Galway Club Presents... Christmas Gathering

Over 60 alumni and friends braved the snow and ice to attend the annual Christmas Gathering in the NUI Galway Quadrangle in December. Graduates enjoyed a reception of mulled wine and mince pies and got into the festive spirit whilst singing carols with the University's student choral society.
