Alanna Stanley received a BSc (Hons) in Anatomy from NUI Galway in 2004. In 2006 she completed a taught MSc in Biomedical Science from the NCBES, NUI Galway, during which time she did a research project on the Apoptotic Caspases and Myoblast Differentiation. In 2007 she took up her current post as a Demonstrator of Anatomy. She is studying for her Ph.D part-time under the supervision of Dr. Fabio Quondamatteo. She is currently also studying on the Anatomy Training program of the Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland Anatomy via distance learning.

Research Interests:
Her work is essentially concerned with the analysis of the involvement of Rho GTPases in epithelial proliferation and maintainance in vivo. This includes localization of the expression of Rho GTPases in vivo under different conditions of cell proliferation as well as the ultrastructural analysis of murine epidermis in skin with targeted deletion of specific Rho GTPase genes.
Research Techniques:
Transmission Electron Microscopy, PCR techniques, In-situ Hybridization, Culturing Bacteria, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Cell culture, Western Blotting, Confocal & Flourescent Microscopy.
Education:
BSc. In Anatomy (Hons), MSc. In Biomedical Science.
