Welcome to the discipline of Anatomy

Peter Dockery, Professor and Chair of Anatomy

As Professor and Chair of Anatomy, I would like to welcome you to our website.

Anatomy is the study of the structure of the human body and an important branch of biology.  We regard both learning and research as vitally important; we offer opportunities to learn about the body from the cellular to the whole-body level as well as conducting research in several areas.

One of our key strengths lies in biological imaging – we house the Centre for Microscopy and Imaging which allows researchers access to, and training in, state-of-the-art imaging techniques for cutting edge science.

As Anatomy provides the basis of knowledge for many fields of healthcare and biomedical science, I would like to state our enduring thanks to those people who donate their bodies to us in order that we can continue to provide excellent training to our future healthcare providers and scientists.

I invite you to look over our webpages whether you are interested in studying with us, working with us, or donating your body to Medical Science.
