AR243 The Making Of Urban Landscapes is a specialised option module. Students taking this module must attend field classes in order to fulfil the requirements for assessment.
Module Summary
This module introduces the student to the archaeology of urban settlement with a particular focus on the physical, social and economic factors that influenced the origins, development and/or decline of urban landscapes from the early medieval period through to
c.1600. Urban settlements from greater Europe and Ireland, with special reference to the towns of south Connacht, will be used to explore aspects of the built environment and material culture associated with town life. Field classes are an important part of this module.
