here.
Programme Level
The full-time day programme leading to the degree of B A is an honours programme; i.e. students are not divided into separate pass and honours programmes. All students, in all years, follow courses which lead to examinations at which honours may be attained.
The separation of students into pass and honours streams does, however, take place in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics/Mathematical Physics. Applied Mathematical Science is available at pass level only.
First Year is now modularised. Students must pass all modules. There will be exams 13 to 16 December for Semester 1 and 17 to 20 April for Semester 2. There is an opportunity to repeat exams 15 to 25 May.
Traditionally, a high proportion of Arts graduates have undertaken further research or vocational training courses, as preparation for employment as teachers or in professions such as law, social work, politics, journalism and arts administration. Increasingly, the world of business, commerce and industry is coming to realise (and to recruit and reward) the invaluable assets of the trained and flexible mind of the graduate in Arts. An increasing range of postgraduate degree and diploma courses with a vocational orientation of interest to Arts graduates has been developed in recent years. Students in the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies are encouraged to consider the widest possible span of career options and should keep themselves informed through regular visits to the Careers Information Office of the various opportunities for employment.
