Karen Finn

I joined the Genome Stability lab as a PhD student in October 2005 after being awarded a Postgraduate Embark Scholarship. I also completed my undergraduate studies here at NUI, Galway, graduating with an honours degree in Biomedical Science in 2005.
The focus of my PhD studies is investigation of Rad9-protein interactions in the DNA damage response. I work with budding yeast, S. cerevisiae, investigating the role of Rad9 (budding yeast homologue of human 53Bp1, Brca1 and Mdc1/Nfbd1), a large, low abundance protein, in the DNA damage response and normal cell cycle progression.
