I joined Noel's lab in February 2004 as a senior postdoctoral researcher. I am working on yeast DNA damage checkpoints an area in which I have a lot of experience, having specialised in this area over the last 10 Years.
I have done my PhD in Giuseppe Baldacci's laboratory in Paris (
http://www.curie.fr/recherche/themes/detail_equipe.cfm/lang/_gb/id_equipe/47.htm), where I worked under the supervision of Stefania Francesconi on fission yeast DNA damage and replication checkpoints. There, I gained my background in molecular and cellular genetics and molecular biology
During my research career, I have acquired a significant grounding in general yeast cell cycle studies, an extensive knowledge of the cellular response to DNA damaging agents, and a high level of expertise concerning the fission and budding yeast DNA damage and DNA replication checkpoints.
I met Noel when I first worked in his previous laboratory in Clare Hall laboratories, London (http://london-research-institute.co.uk/aboutlri/aboutch/?version="1)." Our collaboration was very interactive and fruitful. I continued to explore my previous interest in the involvement of the Yeast MRX complex in checkpoint activation in Prof. S. Jackson's laboratory in Cambridge (http://www.gurdon.cam.ac.uk/~jacksonlab/Lab_Membersnew.html#Past), which had similar scientific interests. During my time in Cambridge, I worked independently and studied the effect of the
Eco
RI overexpression on Yeast DNA damage checkpoint activation in synchronised cells. Reaching the end of my project in the lab and being offered the ability to supervise students and manage projects at a higher scale, I then joined Noel's laboratory here.
When I am not in the lab, I enjoy any activity related to food - you already guessed I am French, didn't you? - I like cooking diner for friends and family in particular. I like gardening, which I start practicing while in the UK. I also enjoy discovering Ireland. Galway and its surrounding in particular are worth a visit!
