Maciek graduated in Medicinal Chemistry from Wroclaw University of Technology in July 2007. He performed his Master’s under the combined supervision of Prof. Jozef Oleksyszyn (Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland) and Dr. Michael P. Carty (NUI, Galway, Ireland). In October 2007 Maciek joined Dr. Ciaran Morrison's group (Chromosome Biology Laboratory) as a PhD student. Currently his work involves investigating the role of SMC proteins in the maintenance of genomic stability in the chicken DT40 system.
