Improved interface and efficiencies: common Blackboard tasks take fewer clicks to perform, along with 38% less page loads than in Blackboard 8. For example, the OK confirmation button that appeared at each stage during resource upload or editing has now been removed.
Control Panel: this is now located below your course menu list. Students do not see the Control Panel.
Page editing: an Edit Mode button appears on the top-right of each page. Click on the button to enter Edit Mode (the Instructor view). Once you have completed your editing, click on the button again to toggle back to the Student view. Click here for more information.
Resource editing: each resource has its own context drop-down menu which is listed to the right-hand side on the page you are viewing. This replaces the resource Modify button in Blackboard 8.
Course menu: students only see menu items which contain content. This is a change from Blackboard 8 where students were presented with menu items that may have been empty. Staff can hide menu items from the student view (e.g. if they require a staff resource area to be hidden from students).
Drag-and-drop: it is very easy for staff and students to personalise and modify their learning environments by dragging and dropping elements in their NUIG home page. Staff can easily reorder menu links and resources using Blackboard 9.1 drag-and-drop handles situated to the left of items.
Announcement emails: Blackboard 9.1 announcements can email subject headlines along with a direct link to Blackboard announcement. Blackboard 8 announcements emails distributed both the subject headline and announcement text to the recipients.
