Blackboard - How to Login

When you click to log in to the Blackboard system, you will be prompted for your username and password, as shown below:

Username: Your username will be your eight digit staff ID (followed by an "s" or an "e").

Password: Your password will be your Information Solutions and Services (ISS) password, which you also use to access your email.

Login to Blackboard:

Troubleshooting Login Problems:

You try to login to Blackboard using your username and password, but see the following error message: An error occurred while the system was processing this login request.

If you get this error message, please check:

Your username
Check that you are using the correct university username - the same one that you use to log into the university network. For staff it consists of a seven digit number, and the letter "s" or "e". If you are an "external" user (not on the University payroll), you will need a Information Solutions and Services (ISS) account before you can have an account created in Blackboard.

Your password
Your password will be the same password you use to access your NUI Galway email.

You try to login to Blackboard using your username and password, but see the following error message:

"Browser Cookies Disabled" Error Message

If you get this error message, please check your Cookie & Security settings in your browser
In order to login in, you must enable cookies in your browser.

Enable cookies on a PC:

• In Internet Explorer: go to the Tools menu > Internet Options > Privacy. Move the slider to either Medium High, Medium, Low, or Accept all cookies. Try logging in again.
• In Mozilla Firefox: go to the Tools menu > Preferences... > Privacy. Tick Accept cookies from sites.
• In Google Chrome: go to the Wrench menu > Options > Under the Bonnet > Content settings... Set cookies to Allow local data to be set.

Enable cookies on Mac OS X:

• In Safari: go to the Safari menu > Preferences... > Security > Change Accept cookies to Only from sites I visit.
• In Mozilla Firefox: go to the Firefox menu > Preferences... > Privacy. Tick Accept cookies from sites.
• In Google Chrome: go to the Chrome menu > Options > Under the Bonnet > Content settings... Set cookies to Allow local data to be set.
