If your students are unable to see courses when they log into Blackboard, they will need to check their registration statement to ensure they are correctly registered. If they are correctly registered and have fully selected their modules through the
Online Registration System, they should speak with their lecturers to find out if Blackboard is being used as part of the course delivery of each module. If students are not registered, they will need to contact
Admissions or the
Student Contact Center on the ground floor of Áras Uí Chathail to proceed.
The Blackboard software and server was initially introduced by CELT in 2003. It is currently managed as a joint venture between CELT, Information Solutions and Services (ISS), and Academic Records. CELT provides support to academic staff, with training, and also currently handles the assignment of staff on various Blackboard modules. The NUI Galway Blackboard system has been hosted externally since 2011, and Blackboard Hosted Services host, back-up and maintain the server. Information Solutions and Services (ISS) handle the creation of student Blackboard accounts and, as far as possible, their enrolment on the relevant courses within Blackboard, via the enrolments database. ISS are also involved with the integration of Blackboard with the Student Information System (Quercus Plus), and the creation of staff accounts.
