Workshop 1: An Introduction to Blackboard at NUI Galway
This workshop is targeted at users who are new to Blackboard and is aimed at getting participants up and running with the system. Content covered includes: Blackboard navigation; structure upload and edit content; and basic management tasks.
All attendees are provided with their own Blackboard training course shell, which they populate with a variety of content during this hands-on workshop session. The Blackboard course shell is available to all participants beyond the face to face session until the end of the current academic year and serves as a private space for practice, investigation, and evaluation.

Workshop 2: Using Blackboard to Support Groupwork, Collaboration and Reflection
As it becomes easier to access and use collaborative tools (such as
discussion boards, blog and wikis), many lecturers are investigating the potential to apply these applications in their teaching and learning contexts. These tools are now available within the NUIG Blackboard virtual learning environment as part of the
Learning Objects building block plug-in.
This workshop is aimed at colleagues who may be using collaboration tools at present, thinking of developing collaboration-based activities at the start of the 2012-13 academic cycle, or simply considering using these tools in the future.
Participants should have a working knowledge of Blackboard.

Workshop 3: Using Blackboard for Podcasting
As it becomes easier to create, publish and distribute content via the web using podcasting tools, many lecturers are looking at the potential to apply these applications to teaching and learning contexts. Podcasting functionality is now available within the Blackboard virtual learning environment as part of the
Learning Objects building block plug-in.
This practical, hands-on workshop is aimed at lecturers who wish to investigate the use of podcasting in education, and to discuss their potential applications with colleagues.
