Setting a Language Pack for Your Course

This guide outlines the steps you will need to take to select the language pack for your course. Instructors can even set the language of the course independently from the language setting of the overall system. In addition to supporting most European languages, Blackboard supports multibyte character sets such as Japanese and Chinese.

Your Blackboard Language Settings

Blackboard allows all users to customise their teaching and learning environment by selecting from a number of available language packs. Follow these instructions to enable the language pack that best meets your requirements.

1. Log into Blackboard.

2. Navigate to the Control Panel of the course whose language pack you wish to change. Click Customisation, then Properties.

3. Select Set Language Pack.
   
   
   

4. Choose a language from the drop-down list.

5. Click on the Submit button to change your language pack settings.

Changing Your Blackboard Course Language Settings

Blackboard also allows instructors to customise the language pack settings of a particular course by selecting from a number of available language packs.  Follow these instructions to enable the language pack that best meets your course requirements.

1. Log into Blackboard: https://nuigalway.blackboard.com/
   
   
2. Navigate to the Control Panel of your course.
   
   
3. Under Customisation, click Properties.
   
   
   
   
4. Under Select Language Pack, click the Language Pack dropdown menu and choose the language you wish to make default on your course.
   
   
   
   
   Note: The System Default for Blackboard is English (NUIGalway)
   
   
5. (Optional) There is an additional Enforce Language Pack tick box option available to instructors which is situated below the drop-down Language Pack list. Ticking this ensures that users accessing your course will only be able to view it in the language you have selected.
   
   
   
   
   
6. Click the Submit button to change the language pack settings for your course.
