Research Interests

Macroalgal Ecophysiology, Ecology and Biotechnology

Phenolic compounds of temperate brown seaweeds:

-          effects of the environment on phenol level and composition
-          involvement of phenols in the high affinity of brown seaweeds to bind heavy metals
-          relationship between phenols and pigments

Seaweed biodiversity:

-          seaweed identification
-          use of macroalgae as ecological quality bioindicators under the Water Framework Directive,
-          survey and monitoring of intertidal rocky shores, maerl beds and Zostera marina meadows.
