Bug Hunters

EXPLORE the fascinating world of Natural Sciences with NUI Galway!

Cell EXPLORERS and Eco EXPLORERS are two initiatives of science communication and public engagement supported and run by the School of Natural Sciences, one of the most research active schools at NUI Galway.

Our primary goal is to inspire scientific interest in the general public and impact positively on science education. Our programmes both engage primary and secondary school pupils in exciting hands-on science activities and support teachers to instil a passion for science in their students. All EXPLORE activities are delivered by research scientists with a passion for education.

For further information on our outreach activities, please visit our dedicated pages.

We look forward to meeting with you in your classroom!

Bug Hunters

Bug hunters is an educational RTE2 TV program in 15 episodes, produced by Suzanne Kelly and hosted by Dr Michel Dugon from NUI Galway. In each episode, Michel and 3 young naturalists explore parts of the Irish wilderness to unearth some of the most fascinating, colourful and strange-looking creepy-crawlies. Now Michel has decided to bring Bug Hunters to your classroom! With Eco EXPLORERS, you too will become a naturalist for a day. Under the guidance of Michel, you will learn about biodiversity, ecology and evolution while handling amazing local and exotic creepy-crawlies. Have a look our page to know more about our tours, roadshows and formal courses!
