This page gives an overview of the services provided by the Buildings Office and the organisational structure of the Buildings Office.
The Buildings Office is the office within the University charged with the planning, development and management of the university estate. The Buildings Office provides professional estates and facilities management services and is a service department within the university structures.
A broad range of services is provided by the Buildings Office including:
The Director of Physical Resources heads the office. The Director reports to the Vice-President for Physical Resources, who is a member of the University Management Team. The Buildings Office also reports to the Physical Resources Committee, a committee of Údaras na hOllscoile (Governing Authority of the University). The Vice-President chairs the committee, with the Director and other officers in attendance, which meets circa six times during each academic year.
Five senior managers report to the Director, in the areas of Facilities Management, Buildings Engineering, Buildings Services Engineering and Planning/Projects. This team with three assistant managers, 9 supervisors, 4 administrative staff, and 90 trades and general operative staff implement the work of the Buildings Office, supported and augmented by numerous works and service contractors.
