temporary permit
A temporary permit is available for drivers, who normally qualify for an official NUI Galway permit, but for a valid reason cannot use their permit, e.g., their car has been vandalised/the staff member is using a courtesy car from a garage, or the Student Information Desk have been unable to issue a permit in a reasonable time (reasonable proof required in all instances). Temporary permits WILL NOT BE ISSUED to visitors of the University, who must use pay-and-display areas or the reserved Visitors car park by prior arrangement with University security. This is to ensure that there is no reduction in parking facilities caused by a large number of temporary permit holders.
Temporary Parking Permits may be available, upon application, and a change may apply (see C1).
Applicants must contact the Student Information Desk at least forty eight hours before the permit is required. Applicants will not be given a grace period to obtain a permit and will have to use Pay & Display until they have a valid temporary permit.
This permit allows successful applicants to park in staff/student/shared car parking spaces for the date(s) indicated on the front of the permit.
The permit does not guarantee parking rights and does not entitle the holder to park overnight on campus.
A process is in place to handle any appeals to the above system or fines applied for individual clamping incidents. Forms are available at
www.nuigalway.ie/parking and should be addressed to
Parking Management Appeals Group, c/o Buildings Office, NUI Galway"
within two months from the date of clamping. Appeals can only be considered when submitted on this form.
