Biography

Patricia holds a B. Comm and a Postgraduate Diploma in Systems Analysis from NUI Galway. She worked in a variety of roles in the Information Technology sector before deciding to train as a Chartered Management Accountant. Patricia completed her professional accountancy training with Shannon Development. Following that she worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Kemmy School of Business in the University of Limerick. Patricia is currently pursuing her PhD in the area of Management Control Systems.

Research Interests

Patricia’s research interests are in the area of management control systems and innovation. She is currently undertaking a PhD which examines the role of management control systems in managing the dual objectives of efficiency and creative innovation at middle management level.

Teaching Interests

Patricia's teaching interests are: 
  • Management Accounting
  • Financial Accounting
Patricia has a particular interest in teaching accounting through blended learning. She has been involved in the design and delivery of two blended learning modules for the part-time B. Comm. In 2008 she was nominated for the President's  Award in Teaching Excellence by a group of students taking a management accounting module through blended learning. Patricia is a member of the Bachelor of Commerce (fulltime) and the Bachelor of Commerce (part time via blended learning) programme boards.
