Biography

Ms Crean is an Accounting lecturer at NUI Galway. She obtained a degree in Accounting and Finance and a first class Masters in Accounting from Dublin City University. She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and prior to joining NUI Galway Ms Crean worked as an audit trainee at KPMG in Dublin, while obtaining her profession accounting qualification. She then spent some time working as a financial accountant in an industry role.  

Andrea lectures in Financial Accounting and Auditing at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the School of Business & Economics and is also involved in the management of the KPMG Summer School, run for both Masters groups, the Masters in Accounting and Masters in International Accounting and Analytics.

Andrea is currently pursuing her PhD in the area of Innovation of auditing through the use of Big Data and Data Analytics.

Research Interests

Andrea’s research interests are in the area of innovation of auditing through the use of data analytics. She is currently undertaking a PhD which examines the innovations of audit processes and audit methodologies through the use of Big Data and Data Analytics.
