Biography:
| Orla O'Dwyer (formerly McHugh) is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics since September 2012. She previously worked as a Lecturer in Business Information Systems at NUI Galway from 2007 until 2012. She recently completed a PhD investigating clan control in agile software development teams. Her current research interests focus on project portfolio management and the control of agile software development teams. She currently works with a number of agile teams to understand the controls used by such teams. She has published in journals such as IEEE Software, The Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems and the International Journal of Project Management. She has won the "Best Paper Award" in 2010 and 2011 at the International Research Workshop on Information Technology Project Management held at ICIS 2010 and ICIS 2011. She is a member of the Association for Information Systems and has acted as a reviewer for journals and conferences such as the European Journal of Information Systems, The International Journal of Project Management, the European Conference in Information Systems (ECIS) and the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS). Prior to joining NUI Galway Orla worked in the software industry for 12 years in a variety of roles (project manager, business analyst, software developer and technical trainer). Research Interests
| Orla’s research interests currently lie in the area of project portfolio management and agile software development with a specific focus on control in agile teams and the social nature of agile software development teams. She also has an interest in the area of information systems project management and project management certification. |
