Biography

Paddy Gillespie is Established Professor of Health Economics at the J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics and Director of the Health Economics & Policy Analysis Centre (HEPAC) at NUI Galway. He is also Progamme Director for the MSc in Health Economics. Paddy's research activity is focused on the application of the techniques of economic evaluation, including trial-based and decision model-based analysis, and econometrics to inform health policy and healthcare practice. The output from this work, which has involved collaboration with colleagues across multiple disciplines, has been published in a range of leading national and international peer-reviewed journals. Beyond NUI Galway, Paddy is a research affiliate at the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), an educator for the Trials Methodology Research Network (HRB TMRN), and health economics lead for the Primary Care Clinical Trials Network Ireland (HRB PCCTNI), the Centre for Research in Medical Devices (CURAM), and the Centre for Personalised Medicine - Clinical Decision Making and Patient Safety (CPM). 

Research Interests

Paddy's research interests focus on the application of the methodological techniques of health economics to explore policy and practice questions in health and healthcare. A sample of his current research portfolio includes:
