Accountancy and Finance
Welcome to the Discipline of Accountancy and Finance which consists of 10 academic staff. The discipline has an outstanding reputation for its excellence in teaching and learning, its engagement with the accounting profession and the wider business community, and its research in the area of performance management.
The discipline plays a key role in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics. At undergraduate level, the discipline has a significant input to the B.Comm.(Accounting) and the B.Comm. At postgraduate level, the discipline offers a Master of Accounting, which combines advanced study of accounting as a basis for a professional career with the development of the student’s academic capabilities. All of our programmes are accredited by the Professional Accountancy Bodies and graduates can benefit from significant exemptions from professional examinations. The employment record of our students is outstanding and virtually all Master of Accounting students secure employment contracts in advance of commencing the programme. This reflects the continued high employment for trainee accountants in practice and industry.
The discipline also offers a PhD programme in Accounting and Finance for national and international students who wish to pursue a PhD on either a full time or part time basis. Further details of this programme can be found on our Research page.
