Welcome to NUI Galway School of Law

Ireland & Canada flagsLaw has been taught at NUI Galway since 1849. The Law School has over 800 undergraduate and postgraduate students with a staff of over 40 academics and administrators in the core School and its specialist Centres: the Centre for Disability Law & Policy and the Irish Centre for Human Rights.

The School is a diverse community of scholars, students and graduates. We have a long tradition of teaching law in a way that both respects and develops our domestic legal traditions while also preparing our graduates to contribute to law in the wider world. We also recognise students from other jurisdictions enrich the learning experience of all students at NUI Galway. In particular, since 2005 we have welcomed 40 students from Canada on to our LLB and LLM programmes. Upon graduation, these students have gone on to great success having returned home to Canada.
