Area of support: Overall management of the Career Development Centre including all guidance, placement, employer engagement, information  and administration activities.

This also involves the development of partnerships and collaborations with academic colleagues and other professional servies across the institution to deliver NUI Galway’s strategic objectives related to employability. Josephine joined NUI Galway in 2008 and prior to being appointed Head of the Centre in October 2015, had responsibility for providing career support, guidance and education to a number of colleges including the College of Business, Public Policy and Law,  the College of Engineering and Informatics and the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Celtic Studies. Josephine continues to provide career support to PhD students in the College of Arts and to the Executive MBA programme.

Background: A graduate of UCG (B Comm, H Dip in Ed.), UL (Grad Dip in Guidance Counselling) and the University of Warwick (MA in Career Education, Guidance and Information in Higher Education), Josephine spent 16 years working in industry in a variety of management roles and was a self-employed Management Consultant for 8 years. In this role she worked with a variety of industries and industry leaders working on organisational change, leadership development programmes and executive coaching

Hobbies and Interests: Josephine is interested in all things “arty”, is a board member of Youth Ballet West, and likes to support graduate art exhibitions by buying a painting or two. She also enjoys listening to music, enjoys going to a music festival every now and then and is a committed member of the NUI Galway staff choir.
