This page is intended as a guide for students who would like to move into dietetics after finishing their degree in NUI Galway.
To become a Dietitian you first need a recognised degree in Dietetics/Nutrition, which entitles you become a member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetics Institute ( http://www.indi.ie/)
Dublin Institute of Technology with TCD: BSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics. Apply through the CAO.
University of Ulster: BSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics. HPAT entrance exam http://www.hpat.org.uk/
What other options are there?
It may be possible to do a course outside Ireland, however you will need to get your course validated by INDI before you can practice in Ireland.
There are shorter, postgraduate courses in the UK if you have a relevant degree already.
These 2-year courses are for graduates of relevant disciplines who wish to qualify as dietitians. These courses will lead to either a post-graduate diploma or a master’s degree.

You can also qualify for registration in the U.K. by doing an accredited undergraduate degree (see
