What if I don't have a degree related to PE?
You must have a degree recognised by the Teaching Council as being related to PE. It is possible to reapply to the CAO to do a second degree. Examples are:
Physical Education with concurrent Teacher Education, University of Limerick: The B.Sc. in Physical Education is designed to qualify graduates as teachers of Physical Education in Second Level Schools. Applications through the CAO - mature students welcome and seperate form required. 4 years. 75 places.
BEd Sports Studies & Physical Education, University College Cork: Holders of the BEd in Sports Studies and Physical Education may go on to teach at second level within and outside Ireland & / or work as a sport coach in a club or a school. Entry through CAO. 10 places reserved for mature students. According to their entry requirements: To be considered as a mature student, you must have reached 23 years of age on or before 1st January of the year of the proposed entry. If you already have a degree or equivalent at time of application, the age qualification does not apply. In this instance put time and effort into your CAO application. Your completed form is an important component of the selection process. Pay particular attention to the final page of the form where you are asked for details of your education, life experience, hobbies etc. The question on your educational goals and objectives is particularly important in the assessment of your application.
