Irish Research Council- NDRC competition for Entrepreneurial Researchers
The Irish Research Council and NDRC (The National Digital Research
Centre) are joining forces to roll out the first 'Research Startup'
competition of its kind, to find the most promising irish researchers*
with great ideas for start ups, based on their research. Following the
competition launch on 22nd September 2012, researchers can submit their
applications at:
http://www.ndrc.ie/events/irc-ndrc_competition.
We'll then select the top 15 researchers to take part in a 6-week NDRC
programme, designed to shift thinking from labs and libraries to 'lean
startups' from basic research to business model; from methods to
products. At the end of 6 weeks we'll be putting the researchers in
front of a commerically focused panel, to choose Ireland's top
commerical research prospect. Those individuals that are a) able to
determine a scalable business model, and b) interested in/ready to
start**a company, then have the option to move forward with NDRC to
build their business. Our joint goal (Irish Research Council and NDRC)
in running this exciting competition is to help Ireland's researers to
think about moving their research-inspired ideas from academia into the
commerical world, to open up an entrepreneuial career option for
researchers; and - ultimately - to get appropriate research to the point
where it can attract commerical capital. Key dates include: 22 Sept:
Competition launch, 30 Nov Deadline for applications, 14 Dec
