MBA in Environmental Management: Bangor University in Wales is currently offering an MBA in Environmental Management to Irish students who are interested in pursuing a postgraduate qualification that equips graduates to fast track a career in the green economy. This unique course is delivered by Bangor Business School and the School of Environment, Natural Resources and Geography as part of the Green Innovation and Future Technologies (GIFT) project initiative.
The aim of this unique programme is to develop skills in the delivery of economic activities related to environment, green technology and sustainability. The programme includes highly topical case studies and collaborative business projects from across these sectors. Graduates of the MBA in Environmental Management will possess a unique and valuable combination of an in depth knowledge of the theoretical underpinnings of environmental management and an ability to apply this in a ’real-world’ context.
The MBA in Environmental Management programme is taught on a 1 year full-time basis at Bangor University. It consists of two distinct parts. Part 1 consists of a number of taught modules, with examinations in May and June 2014. Part 2 is a major independent research project in the form of a relevant dissertation completed from late-May to September 2014.
Fees: Ten full fee GIFT scholarships will be available for this programme on a competitive basis.
Who should apply? The course is suitable for graduates in a wide range of disciplines, including Environment, Engineering, Finance, Social Sciences and other disciplines. While candidates should possess an undergraduate degree, those without a degree but with relevant work experience will be considered.

The FIP (Asia) will be facilitated by the Farmleigh Fellowship - a voluntary group associated with the Global Irish Network and led by members of the Irish diaspora in Singapore. The Farmleigh Fellowship aims to equip 1,000 young Irish professionals within the next 5 years with the business, cultural and communication skills needed to succeed in Asia. The Fellowship already supports the successful Masters in Asian Business, established in 2011, between UCC and NTU (Singapore), now running in its second year.The program is supported primarily by Irish and multinational companies with some funding from the Irish Government.

The French-speaking Community of Belgium are offering two scholarships to Irish students to enable them to improve their knowledge and practice of the French language and are particularly aimed at future teachers of French.These course are organised by the 'Université catholique de Louvain' and take place from 30 July to 17 August 2012. The total programme involves 65 hours of class work and several cultural activities. A certificate will be issued at the end fo the programme. The Ireland Canada University Foundation offers an annual programme of scholarly exchange awards open to all academic disciplines, betwen the universities of Canada and Ireland. Founded in 1993 by Dr. Craig Dobbin of Newfoundland and Dr. Patrick Hillery, former President of Ireland, the Foundation was recognised also in a Memorandum of Understanding in 2004 by the Taoiseach, Mr. Bertie Ahern T.D and Canadian Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Paul Martin M.P.
These scholarships are tenable for travel from Ireland to Canadian universities, in order to support the scholars' research on a topic relating to both countries. The scholarships fund short periods of exchange, typically one month, are valued at €5,000, and are targeted at scholars in the early stages of their research career. The scholarships are generously sponsored by Craig C. Dobbin, with the assistance of the Government of Canada and the Irish Government by CRH, Atlantic Corridor, CHC and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland. The Trudeau Foundation seeks to support doctoral candidates pursing research on one or more of the Foundation's four themes: human rights and dignity, responsible citizenship, Canada in the world, and people and their natural environment.
Up to fifteen (15) Trudeau Scholarships are awarded each year to support doctoral candidates pursing research into compelling present-day concerns. Each scholarship is valued at $40,000 per year for three years, plus up to an additional $20,000 annually to support research-related travel. Trudeau Scholars are each paired with a Trudeau Mentor, an outstanding professional who pursues policy analysis and implementation in his or her daily work.Eligibility Criteria:

DAAD Research Grants for PhD Students, Postdocs, Junior Academics
A limited number of short-term research grants are available to carry out research at universities, research institutes, libraries and archives in Germany. Applicants are expected to establish contact with and secure access to respective institution(s) prior to their DAAD application and make their own travel and accommodation arrangements.The grant comprises a monthly allowance of €1,000, an initial extra payment towards travel expenses, and an accident/personal liability insurance policy for the duration of the visit. The grants are for short-term visits of one to six months. The research visit may be split into two parts if necessary, however, in such cases no extra travel allowance can be agreed. Apply 1st of October 2012 (for visits commencing between January and June the following year). Cannon Research Fellowships: The Canon Foundation in Europe grants up to 15 Research Fellowships annually to highly qualified European and Japanese researchers. The aim of the Foundation is to contribute to international understanding, in particular between Europe and Japan.
Candidates should hold a doctorate or at least a Master’s degree. They are eligible during the ten-year period following the successful completion of their Ph.D or MA degree. Extensions to the ten-year rule are possible in principle in case of exceptional circumstances which should be explained in the application and supporting documents are required. Non-nationals have to have a permanent citizenship in either Europe or Japan.
The European Fellowship holders pursue a period of research in Japan whereas the Japanese Fellows do their research at host institutions in Europe. The Fellowships are awarded for periods of a minimum three months and maximum of one year. Applications for Research Fellowships in all fields of research are welcome.
