MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR TIME AT THE FAIR BY...
•
Networking with Employers - bring along up-to-date copies of your CV, even tailor your CV to companies you are really interested in - but don't expect to be hired on the spot.
•
Asking for the names of the company reps you speak to. This will help when you phone the company for more information, and may well give you added credibility as a reference point in a covering letter or at interviews.
•
Planning your day in advance - know what employers are attending. Do your research and be well informed.
• Dressing appropriately - comfortable, but smart. Don't forget first impressions last.
• Picking up a map of the event &
target the companies you are really interested in first! Then look at the other employers in attendance - don't dismiss an employer at first glance as many graduate recruiters employ students from all disciplines.
•
Asking questions - It shows an interest in what the employer has to offer but also that's why the reps are there.
• Holding onto the
publicity brochure for future reference. You may need it for contact information.
