Job Search on the Web
Many companies use recruitment agencies when advertising vacancies. Most have a website and an office you can call in to while some are exclusively online businesses. Some specialise in certain sectors and know their areas very well and will have permanent and temporary jobs on offer. Some agencies will have graduate level jobs on offer as well.
Things to consider
- Recruitment agencies charge the company not the jobseeker for the service.
- Staff at recruitment agencies are not Careers Advisers. Remember, NUI Galway graduates can use the Career Development Centre facilities,
outside term (for 3 years after graduation).
- Make sure the agency is offering real jobs and not just gathering CV’s.
- If you send your CV to an agency, they should ask you before they send it to a company and should tell how your application is doing.
- They should not request references without your permission.
- With online agencies, you can select the jobs you are interested in and apply individually, or add your CV to the website to be viewed by employers registered with the site.
