13 January 2014 - Happy Heart Healthy Eating Award

The Irish Heart Foundation has awarded the ARAMARK Food Services team at NUI Galway's An Bhialann Restaurant with the Happy Heart Healthy Eating Award. The team received this award in recognition of their efforts in providing a range of healthy food choices for customers.

Daire Heffernan, General Manager with ARAMARK Food Services said; "Our Food Services team is dedicated to providing and promoting a balance of low fat, healthy food choices in its restaurant daily in line with our Right Track health and wellness programme. We focus on providing choice to customers, offering a wide variety of full and low fat foods with low salt and sugar content."

20 November 2013 - Catering Focus Group Winner Announced

NUI Galway boasts a student population of over 17,000, 2,000 of which are international students from 110 countries around the world. As a result, campus caterers are more focused than ever on presenting to students dynamic menu offerings which reflect their varying tastes and culinary backgrounds. This can be seen through the introduction of Halal offerings, for example, which are now available in two campus restaurants, Moffetts and CSI Café. Arrangements are being put in place to extend similar services throughout the campus.

Last month, a study was conducted with undergraduate, postgraduate and international students to gain an insight into current attitudes towards and perceptions of campus restaurants and food offerings. The study yielded some interesting results. For example, it was found that students are seeking budget-friendly meal options and would like to see a wider variety of healthy snack/small meal options.
