Professor Oddny Arnardottir, Reykjavik University, Iceland, co author of 'The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities – European and Scandinavian Perspectives' gave a public lecture at NUI Galway on 11/09/2009, entitled: 'What does Equality Mean for Persons with Disabilities? Lessons from the new UN Treaty on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities'.This lecture is available as a three-part video.
Launch of the Centre for Disability Law and PolicyFormer President of Ireland, Dr Mary Robinson launched the new Centre for Disability Law and Policy at NUI Galway on Friday, 3 April 2009. The Centre is one of the first of its type in Europe and it is timely given the recent adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities which Ireland has signed.

The Centre for Disability Law and Policy hosted a public lecture on April 14th 2008 entitled ‘The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities - New Dawn or False Hopes?’. Guest Lecturer, Professor Jerome Bickenbach, kindly gave the lecture and discussed the concept of equality that underpins the new UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
