Claire is currently undertaking a PhD in the area of disability discrimination in employment. It will consider the determination of emerging trends in employment disability discrimination following from an international and comparative exploration of legislation, case law, and conventions pertaining to the advancement of participation of persons with disabilities in the work place.
Claire is a practicing barrister with a particular interest in employment law. She graduated with an honours degree in Law from Trinity College Dublin in 2003, a first class honours Masters in Law (Commercial Law) from London School of Economics in 2004, and the degree of Barrister at Law from The Honorable Society of King's Inns in 2005. Claire was called to the Irish Bar in July 2005 and commenced practicing as a barrister in October 2006. She was the Principal Legal Researcher for the Law Reform Commission's Consultation Paper on Codification and Reform of the Courts Acts, published in July 2007. She continues to work part time with the Law Reform Commission as Principal Legal Researcher on the Courts Acts Report which is expected to be published in 2009. Claire has published a number of articles in legal periodicals and was co-editor of the Irish Student Law Review in 2006. She is also a part time lecturer in law with the Business Faculty in Griffith College Dublin and is a tutor in the law of torts at the Honorable Society of King’s Inns. Previously she was a tutor in commercial law at the School of Law, Trinity College Dublin.
