Thesis
Joyce is currently undertaking a PhD in the area of disability and education. Her research focuses on the adequacy of Irish law and practice with respect to the right to education for children with disabilities. It involves an analysis of the situation in Ireland, with appropriate recommendations for legal and policy reforms. Joyce is also exploring best international practice in the delivery of education to children with disabilities. There is a particular focus on the United Nations Convention for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Biography
Joyce was awarded a LL.B in 2004 and a Bachelor of Corporate Law in 2003 from the National University of Ireland Galway. She was called to the Irish Bar in 2005. Joyce worked in the Legal Department of the Financial Regulator from 2005-2006. She was a part-time law lecturer at the Galway and Mayo Institute of Technology in 2006-2007. She also taught tort law, contract law, company law, and the law of the European Union at the Law School at NUI Galway. Joyce is currently employed by the Law Society of Ireland as a Human Rights Executive.
