 Language Laboratories

An Teanglann, as part of CELT, primarily supports the teaching and learning of modern languages in NUI Galway; specifically French, German, Italian and Spanish.

Our multimedia labs are located in the Arts Millennium Building, AM117, AM118 and AM119. These specialised labs run a large range of software chosen to faciliate and assist language learning. All rooms have projectors and interactive boards.  

During the summer, all three labs moved to Windows 7, and all now run the SANAKO 1200 software.

Printing Facilities

ISS moved to a managed print service last September in the general access suites and in some departmental suites and the service is now being rolled out to all PC suites on campus, including the multimedia labs. This means the following changes to print services in the labs:

• The three printers have been replaced by a single Konica Minolta 40P black and white duplex printer, located in AM117, which will be serviced daily by MJ Flood, the university partner for the print service
  
•  Printing will be charged at the normal rates, i.e. €0.08 single sided page and €0.12 double sided
  
• Students will submit jobs from any of the 3 labs and they will print directly to the printer in AM117 
  
•  Calls and escalations will be done through the ISS service desk ticketing system

Please note that a review of print volume last year in each of the three labs showed that use of the print service was very low.  It was concluded it is not cost effective to install printers in each of the laboratories.
