PAL at GMIT:
Planning and design of the new GMIT PAL Programme took place from September 2008 to December 2008. A pilot Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Programme was launched by both GMIT and AIT, a SIF II project partner, in February 2009. A total of 178 first year students were involved in phase one of the programme. They were supported by 15 peer leaders who were selected from second, third, and fourth year programmes and have undertaken an intensive PAL leader training programme. These numbers will increase at least two fold in the second cycle, which commences in September 2009.
